Now is the time.  Here is the place.  This is the infectiously melodic hard rock band you've been waiting to hear.  In an age of sludgy power chords, Now-Here-This represents a needed breath of fresh air, where melody, lyrics, and song-writing are just as important as loud guitars and a solid rhythm section.  (read the rest... )

Recording of our three songs last week went well.  We got the drums and bass done for three songs.  They're called "(If That's What it Takes) Remove Me", "Picture", and "Rise Above."  With the start of school, things are terribly busy, but I'm hoping this weekend to lay down the guitars and maybe start the vocals.  I'll keep you updated on the progress.

Well... we've got some good news and some bad news.

The good news first... we'll be recording sooner than later.  In fact, sooner than we anticipated.  We'll probably be starting in the next couple of weeks.  Tenatively on the agenda will be a three-song souvenir of what we've done since the release of the first album.

The bad news is that, at least for a while, these songs will represent the end of Now-Here-This.  The writing process has been slow, and what started off as a ton of fun has become rather laborious.  We had a great chat this past week - at least the three of us who will be participating in the recording process at the moment (one of us seems to be missing in action) - and we all agred that it has been a fun four years and that we love working with each other.   I really couldn't ask for a better group of guys - both as musicians and people - to work with.

Anyway.... we ain't done yet.  More on all that later, and we'll keep y'all posted on the recordings.  They're going to sound great!

Just a quickie here.... the interviews today went quite well.  Listen to the Y108 interview here.  I was unable to get a recording today of the C101 interview, but will get one in the next week or thereabouts.   A huge thanks to Andre Schikolenko of Y108 and to Lou Molinaro of C101 for having us on.  Lou was nice enough to give Brent Doerner and I a full 45 minutes of air time, and we had a great chat.  It was a treat for me to sit down and chat on air with one of the guys who inspired me as a musician through my teen years and beyond.

Hey there! Just a quick reminder to everyone about a few things:

1. Show this Friday night at Absinthe with My Wicked Twin. Check out their video for Maybe Love - (Now-Here-This at 10:00 pm.

2. Catch us on the radio... I will be on C101.1 (Mohawk Radio) with Brent Doerner and James Walker of My Wicked Twin at 4:30 pm.

3. Now-Here-This will be featured on Y108's Get Hammered show on Wednesday night (that would be tomorrow) at 11:30. Tune in!

February 23, 2009

We just received word today that we'll be featured on classic rock giant Y108's "Get Hammered" show on Wed. April 1st.  This is our second time being featured on the show, and no, it's not an April Fools' gag.  Thanks a lot to Derm Cardif, the programming director, for being so generous.  We're really looking forward to it.

We've also gotten word that we'll be getting some exposure from CFMU (McMaster University radio) and C101.  Thanks to Jamie Tenant and Lou Molinaro for their support from their respective stations.  You guys have always been good to us, and we do appreciate it.

If any of you readers have any thoughts on what song should be played, please drop us a line.

Brent Doerner, the singer/guitarist for My Wicked Twin has also re-joined Helix, so we'll be playing with a "current" member of Helix.  Cool....  At the moment, our set list looks like it will be made up of 5 new songs, and 5 songs from the first album.  They're really starting to take shape.

Keep an eye out, as we're also working on a TV spot and looking into some festival dates for summer.

January 20, 2009

Hey there!  Happy New Year, Merry Christmas, and all that jazz.   Though 2008 brought its challenges for NHT, including the painstaking process of writing, the loss of a family member, gruelling work schedules, and the subsequent choice to not do many shows, we have escaped relatively unscathed.  We're all still here, and ready for a much more interesting 2009.

Our first bit of news is that we have a show lined up!   On Friday, April 3, we'll be playing at Absinthe .  Jeremy, who always treats us great, remembered that the opportunity to open for Helix didn't pan out, and wanted to know if we'd be interested in opening for a band called My Wicked Twin.  This band is made up of Brent Doerner (Helix guitarist for about 20 years), his twin brother Brian Doerner (original drummer for Helix; frequently found playing with Saga), and Mike Uzelac (original Helix bass player.)   Check them out!  I think we're a good match for each other.

We're going to drum up some media support for this, and would love for loads of people to come out.  We hope to be playing at least a few of the songs we have written for the new album and would really appreciate your feedback.    Hopefully, we'll start recording sooner than later... maybe this summer.

Finally, make sure to add us to your Facebook or Myspace pages!  Thanks!

October 04, 2008

Sorry for the lack of updates.  Geez... time sure whizzes by sometimes, doesn't it?  We've been forced back to laying low due to a family illness, but we'll be back on our feet in the next couple of weeks.  Due to the unfortunate timing and some other complications, we had to turn down an opportunity to open for Helix at Absinthe on October 9th.  If only Helix could have chosen November 9th!!  Ah, well...next time.

August 12, 2008

August already!  Boy, things sure do sneak up on you, don't they?  We're all looking forward to Friday's show at the Cactus Festival in Dundas.  We're on Stage 1 at 6 pm.  It is on Main St. between King and Ogilvie.  Fingers are crossed for nice weather.

We'll be playing two new songs.  Please let us know what you think of them!

Latest addition.... for those of you on Facebook, Now-Here-This now has a Facebook page.  Please sign up and add us to your friends.  The link is in our menu, right underneath the Myspace link.  Does anyone even use Myspace anymore?

See you Friday!

June 05, 2008

Hey there, folks!  As the tag line from the old CKOC often said, "... the hits just keep on comin'..."  Yes, get ready for some more regular updates as more things start to happen again.

First off, our last show was in August at the Dundas Cactus Festival.  Nearly a year later to the day, and at the same event, we will be proud to mark our return to the live scene again at this years Cactus Festival.  Difference is, we'll be on the Main Stage this time around!  Yes, we WILL be playing some new material at that show.  Look for about an equal mix of new stuff and material from our first CD.  Check our 'Gigs' section for the details.  See you there!

We were also hoping to announce another Main Stage festival show for this summer, but scheduling issues caused that to not quite work out.  That's okay.... it gives us more time to prepare more new material to share with you for our first show back.

May 29, 2008

Good news!  Three more songs are about to enter the rehearsal stage.  Titles are All We Can Be, Rise Above, and Long Road.  Work on the other three new songs is going well, and we're hoping to soon announce a festival date for our return to the live scene, at which time we can start sharing some new material.  Stay tuned.

February 07, 2008

Whoa!  February already!  Merry Christmas, Happy New year, Happy Chinese New Year, etc.  Yes, things have been busy, busy with the holiday season, school, jobs, families, and all the other stuff that real life entails.  My voice teacher of the past 10 years, Edward Johnson passed away just after new years due to complications following a stroke.  He was 84.

In the good news department, I have decided to start teaching voice.  Ed told me a while back that I was ready, but it has only recently been that I have had the confidence to make that step.

And in even better news, we have three new songs finished!  Working titles are Engraved Emotion, Picture, and Remove Me.   We've got more that we're working on, so hopefully the news will start coming a little faster now.

People said....

"I really liked Crazy Dream, Don't Change Your Mind and Cool Like You. I immediately heard the "Too Loud" MacLeod influence on Chris' guitar work. Good stuff and a good, solid band." - Glenn Miller (formerly of Chilliwack) commenting on NHT's debut CD.
